Please reach us at filthygorgeousaesthetics@outlook.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
It is illegal to offer anyone under the age of 18 injectable treatments, regardless if parental consent is given.
You must be 18 or older to book an appointment with us, and we request that you bring ID such as a passport or driving licence to your first appointment with us to keep on file for insurance purposes and to evidence our commitment to our legal obligations.
If you're new to aesthetics treatments, or if you have a specific concern that you wish to address but are not sure how, you can reach us by submitting an enquiry via our web enquiry form, email, DM, WhatsApp, text, or by booking a consultation through our website so that we can discuss and guide you accordingly.
It's very common to feel nervous and we will do everything in our power to make you feel at ease when you’re with us.
We offer numbing cream prior to carrying out the treatment to make injectable treatments more comfortable, and we also use fillers which contain lidocaine for extra comfort (suitable for all those without a lidocaine allergy).
We also change our needles throughout injectable treatments, where necessary. When a needle starts to blunt it becomes more uncomfortable, so this is an important method for us to keep our clients relaxed and as comfortable as possible.
When having any injectable treatment, there is always the risk of some swelling or bruising, dependent on the individual, due to the injection process causing minor trauma to the area.
We can guarantee that we will do everything in our power to minimise risk of bruising by using the best techniques and replacing needles throughout treatment to prevent unnecessary trauma as needles that blunt during the procedure can also cause bruising. Arnica gel or cream is advised to be used following treatment as this helps alleviate any bruising. If you really want to prepare, you could even use arnica supplements for 10 days prior and 7 days post appointment.
Swelling is the body's natural response to trauma whilst the area heals. A cool pack can be applied for 15 minutes at a time following treatment to reduce any swelling. Ensuring you are hydrated will also impact how much you swell. If the tissues are hydrated you will feel less movement of the needle as it is 'cushioned'. Furthermore, HA fillers absorb water as it looks to soften and settle once injected (picture a dry sponge soaking up fresh water). If your body is not hydrated, you hold on to excess water. which the filler will then attract, causing unwanted swelling. So, drink your water and swell less for less time!
Timing your appointment correctly can also help to avoid swelling and bruising. For women, their menstrual cycle can affect how their body responds to the treatment as during this period they are more sensitive to pain and infammation due to Prostaglandins (hormone like substances) which cause skin and lips to be much more tender and reactive. It can also cause more bleeding during this period which leaves them more vulnerable to bruising.
Avoiding alcohol, energy drinks, caffeine and NSAID Drugs for a minimum of 24 hours prior to appointment will also greatly improve your chances of not swelling or bruising.
DRINK WATER
Being hydrated means your tissues are hydrated and therefore the treatment will be more comfortable.
Fillers also absorb as much water as possible and when your body is dehydrated, it holds on to excess water which the filler will attract and therefore cause excess swelling.
TIMING
Plan ahead and avoid booking for when you are on your period, where possible. During menstrual cycles, you are more sensitive to pain and inflammation, alongside being more vulnerable to bruising due to increased blood flow.
AVOID
If possible, for at least 24 hours prior to appointment, avoid alcohol, caffeine, energy drinks and NSAIDs (do not stop taking prescribed medication from your Doctor for medical reasons).
Alcohol causes dehydration and swelling, caffeine and energy drinks raise blood pressure and NSAIDs (e.g. Ibuprofen, Anadin, Aspirin, Advil, Disprin) as they can thin the blood which causes excess bleeding and therefore bruising.
PREPERATION
Taking arnica supplements for 10 days prior to your appointment, and 7 days post appointment will greatly help prevent bruising and promote healing (Arnica strength 30c is advisable).
Arnica cream or gel is great to have at home too as using this topically really supports healing, and if kept in the fridge it can also sooth tender areas following treatment. If you opt for the gel, this can pass for lip gloss whilst also encouraging healing for your lips.
DURING
Whilst easier said than done, breathing during treatment makes a huge difference.
When you're anxious, you automatically hold your breath which also causes you to tense. When you tense your tissues become harder which actually makes the pain worse and could result in more bruising. It also causes the needle to blunt quicker as it moves through tight tissues so remember to breathe, relax and you will find it much more comfortable. We can provide a stress ball which you can squeeze so that you can keep your body relaxed, if required.
REST & RELAX
When you're tired you end up groggy, irritable and sensitive, sometimes even emotional, which isn't the best combination for receiving injectable treatments. If overly stressed and tired, your brain is unable to dampen pain signals which results in the treatment feeling more painful.
Even mild sleep deprivation can cause dehyration, stress and tension which by now you will know is not ideal prior to treatment.
COLD SORES?
If you are prone to cold sores, even if on a rare occasion, lip injections cause trauma which can result in a nasty outbreak.
Lysine supplements can be used 3 weeks before and after treatment, or anti-viral medication, Aciclovir, to prevent an outbreak triggered by lip injections. If there is an active outbreak when your appointment is due, we will be unable to provide the treatment for at least 10 days following scabs disappeaing due to the virus still being active, so please contact us to reschedule.
Avoid anti-inflammatory painkillers, Motrin, Gingko Biloba, Garlic, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E or any other essential fatty acids at least 3 days to 1 week after treatment as it can lead to increased chances of bruising.
Avoid touching the area for 6 hours to avoid infection.
Avoid wearing makeup until the day after your treatment to avoid infection.
Avoid drinking alcohol for at least 24 hours after your treatment to avoid increased chances of bruising.
Avoid the use of Retinol or similar products for 2 days after treatment due to skin sensitiity and risk of irritation.
Avoid sun and heat exposure such as saunas, sunbeds and extremely hot water for 2 weeks post treatment as it can degrade the Hyaluronic Acid in filler which could reduce the intended benefits.
Avoid vigorous exercise for 2 days post treatment as it reduces swelling and speeds up the healing process.
Avoid cosmetic treatments such as laser, ultrasound, peels, facials or microdermabrasion for 2 weeks after your treatment due to skin sensitvity and irritation. You should also avoid any facial massages or skin resurfacing until the area has healed fully.
Avoid extreme cold, including ice packs that are directly applied to the skin. You can apply a cool compress to the area to reduce any discomfort or swelling.
If you have had any numbing creams or injections, please do not consume any hot or cold drinks until your sensation has returned to normal. You must also be careful when eating so that you do not risk biting your lip.
Do not fly for 7 days post treatment.
Hyaluronic Acid dermal fillers are a temporary solution with the primary ingredient being a natural substance in the body. Over time it breaks down and is reabsorbed by the body.
Some people are concerned that it may stretch the skin and cause abnormalities once the filler has worn off but this is a myth. In some cases, the face can look even better than it did prior to filler.
The term that dermal fillers last is dependent on the individual but is generally anything between 6 and 18 months. Top-ups can be administered whenever you feel necessary or notice results changing.
Dermal filler results can be seen immediately however final results can take anywhere between 2 and 6 weeks as it takes time for the filler to settle in, and any lumps to smooth out.
This totally depends on your goal. For some, you may only need one appointment.
During your consultation, we will discuss what you would like to achieve and advise you on realistic outcomes, and create a treatment plan which will include products to be used, amount of sessions likely to be needed, time between treatments, costs, and any other recommended treatments that will help you achieve the desired result.
The dermal fillers that we offer are all made of Hyaluronic Acid. Hyaluronic Acid fillers can be dissolved by using Hyaluronidase so in the case of an emergency situation, or in the case where a client does not like or no longer wants their filler, it can be dissolved.
For this reason, we do not use any permanent fillers as they cannot be broken down in the same way, and therefore present more risks.
In the rare event that a client does not like their appearance with filler, we request that they wait a minimum of 4 weeks to allow for the filler and tissues to settle, any swelling and bruising to dissipate and any lumps to smooth before we review.
In an emergency situation, should we need to dissolve, we keep plenty of Hyaluronidase in our medical kit so we can rectify any issues as soon as they are identified, so rest assured, you are in good hands.
Absolutely! Fillers are inclusive for everybody, except those with contraindictions.
There are also techniques for masculinisation which are the same treatments but placement and volume is adjusted to enhance male features.
Avoid anti-inflammatory painkillers, Motrin, Gingko Biloba, Garlic, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E or any other essential fatty acids at least 3 days to 1 week after treatment as it can lead to increased chances bruising.
Anyone under the age of 18.
Anyone who is currently pregnant or breastfeeding.
Anyone with an active skin infection or cold sores.
Anyone taking certain medications such as anti coagulants (blood thinners) - to be discussed in consultation or contact directly to discuss. Only under doctor's supervision, these would need to be stopped for several days prior to your injections as they can cause significant bruising.
Anyone with any hypertrophic scarring as any injections may trigger excessive scar tissue production.
Those with autoimmune diseases, unless they are well-controlled and well-managed.
Botulinum toxin is generally considered safe and effective for people with autoimmune diseases. However, people with certain autoimmune diseases, such as lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, are at an increased risk of complications.
For products containing lidocaine: patients with known hypersensitivity to lidocaine or amide local anesthetic agents, hyaluronic acid, or a history of severe allergy or anaphylactic shock. In these cases, we would need to know in advance so that we can order filler not containing-lidocaine but this would also mean that no numbing cream can be used.
If you are building a particular area, we recommend that you leave 4 weeks between dermal filler appointments to allow the filler time to settle into position.
There is no particular time to wait if you would like filler in different areas, for example if you are having lip filler one day, there is no specific amount of time to leave before having cheek filler etc.
It is recommended that you leave a minimum of one week before flying, this is important because if any complications were to occur, you would need to return to clinic for us to support you.
Also, consider your destination's climate as it is recommended you do not sunbathe or expose yourself to extreme heat for 2 weeks.
Avoid touching the area for 6 hours to avoid infection.
Avoid drinking alcohol for at least 24 hours after your treatment to avoid increased chances of bruising.
Avoid vigorous exercise for 2 days post treatment as it reduces swelling and speeds up the healing process.
Avoid sun and heat exposure such as saunas and sunbeds for 48 hours post treatment.
It is very important to remain upright for 4 hours and avoid excessive bending during this time. If you have to bend down to pick something up, bend your knees and keep your face upright. This is to allow it time to settle in to the muscles.
Avoid sleeping on your face for the first night.
Avoid wearing makeup until the day after your treatment to avoid infection. When applying your make-up or moisturiser use dabbing motions instead of rubbing or spreading for 48 hours.
Do not have any facial treatments that may promote ‘tracking’ of the Botulinum Toxin to neighbouring areas, for 7 days.
Do not fly within the first 24 hours.
Botulinum toxin injections, such as Botox, relax the muscles in your face to smooth out lines and wrinkles, such as crow's feet and frown lines, along with many other uses.
Botulinum Toxin usually takes 2-3 days to start working, and results can be seen after 2 weeks, at which point a top-up can be added if any tweaks are needed.
Botulinum Toxin usually lasts approximately 3-4 months but is dependent on the individual.
Anyone under the age of 18.
Anyone who is currently pregnant or breastfeeding.
Anyone with an active skin infection.
Anyone who is unwell in any way would need to be rescheduled.
Anyone with a neurological or neuromuscular condition such as Myasthenia Gravis, ALS, Lambert-Eaton syndrome.
Anyone taking certain medications such as anti coagulants (blood thinners) - to be discussed in consultation or contact directly to discuss. Only under doctor's supervision, these would need to be stopped for several days prior to your injections as they can cause significant bruising.
If you have a history of Bell’s Palsy (facial weakness – usually one side) as any previous facial muscle weakness may represent if the muscle is over relaxed. Dermal fillers would be fine.
Anyone with an allergy to eggs or albumin as all brands of Botulinum Toxin contain this, making it unsuitable for individuals with these allergies.
Those with certain autoimmune diseases, such as lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, are at an increased risk of complications.
Botulinum toxin (anti-wrinkle) treatments can be administered and then 2 weeks will need to pass before a top-up can be performed, and this is only if necessary to make any adjustments.
Botulinum toxin treatments can then be performed again after 3 months, as required.
Once you have had botulinum toxin (anti wrinkle) treatment, you can have a 14 day review if there are any tweaks that need to be made. After that, you will then need to wait for 3 months before having more. The effects could stop working if you have it too often.
Botox is a brand of Botulinum Toxin but there are others that we also use.
When a Botulinum Toxin is injected, it is temporarily relaxing the targeted muscles to create an intended result, an example being to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Once this has been injected, it naturally wears off over time. The time taken to wear off is dependent both on the area being treated and the individual's metabolism. It cannot be reversed in the same way as fillers, it can only wear off naturally.
Generally, it lasts around 3 months, in some cases 4, but for those individuals who are very active it could wear off quicker.
Technically, you are fine to fly after 48 hours however we advise you not to fly for over 2 weeks because if you require a top-up, this must be done on the 14th or 15th day following initial appointment otherwise you will require a new prescription and toxin which will result a in full appointment charge.
We are advocates for enhancing your natural beauty. We listen to your desired outcome and advise you appropriately on how to achieve this and a treatment plan will be devised if the goal is unrealistic for one treatment session.
The results we provide are a representation of us and we will respectfully decline a request if we do not believe it is in your best interest.
When treatments are done correctly, your results will look subtle and natural. For those who are looking to achieve more dramatic changes, for example much fuller lips, it would need to be done over multiple sessions to slowly and safely build. Even when creating a more obvious result, it is a process, but each step of the process provides beautiful, natural results to enhance each client's natural beauty.
After dermal fillers and/or botulinum toxin injections, you are able to resume your regular activies right away, except intense physical exercise which we recommend you avoid for 48 hours post treatment in order to minimise swelling and bruising.
We also recommend you plan your treatments in advance of any special events in order to allow your body time to heal. Our recommendation is a minimum of 2 weeks.
We will always start with a consultation after welcoming you to our clinic.
The consultation is the perfect opportunity for us to discuss your goals and concerns, and us to provide you information on treatment, possible complications and guidance. We will document our consultation as a record of what was discussed, and if you decide to proceed we will ask you to complete consent forms.
We will then take 'before' pictures for insurance purposes, and also as a great visual aid for comparison post treatment.
Following pictures, for dermal filler we will check and record your capillary refill time (the time taken for colour to return to the area being checked) in the area we are treating. We perform this test by pressing firmly on the area for 5 seconds and then counting the time it takes for the blood to return which presents by the skin going from pale to rosy.
We will then offer you numbing cream and allow this time to take effect whilst we prepare for treatment. We will always show you the product that we are using and open all vials/syringes/needles etc in front of you so you can be confident that what we are using is genuine product and sterile. Each syringe of filler, or vial of botulinum toxin has a unique code which we will also record on your records for insurance purposes.
We will then assess the face, wipe your skin with an alcohol wipe and mark up where we want to work and plan our approach.
We will then check that you are comfortable and ready to proceed and work our magic. We can provide a stess ball to help if you are nervous.
We will talk to you throughout the treatment and check that you are feeling well and as comfortble as possible.
Once the treatment has been performed, we will clean the area, take 'after' pictures for insurance purposes and as a visual aid for your comparison, and allow you the opportunity to view the results. We will also check the capillary refill time once again for safety precautions.
We will then provide you with an aftercare kit and aftercare advice, along with an emergency number that you can reach us on at any time if you believe a complication has developed. Whilst we will take every safety measure possible, when having fillers we will also provide you with an information leaflet on what to look out for, in the rare event of an emergency situation arising. We also provide you with an information leaflet on the timeline of how filler is likely to feel over the two week period as reassurance on what to expect and when.
*Please note - we will not use your pictures for marketing unless you are happy for us to do so.
**We always have an emergency medical kit on site for us to resolve any unexpected complications, and handle any unexpected allergic reactions. We will happily evidence this before proceeding for reassurance, where requested.
We are fully insured for all treatments we offer, and abide by all advice to keep you safe.
We are fully trained and showcase our certificates proudly to evidence this.
We are constantly training and upskilling in new techniques.
We are currently studying L7 in Aesthetics which is the highest qualification that can be achieved in the Aesthetics field, so that we have as much knowledge as possible and as evidence of our commitment.

We will see you face to face as soon as possible in the event of a possible complication arising.
We have a medical kit which contains everything we need to handle complications.
You will have been advised of all possible complications and warning signs prior to consenting to treatment. If you suspect any complication, you must contact us immediately on our emergency contact number that you will be provided with.
Where we even suspect something out of the ordinary we will need to see you face-to-face and will request you to come into clinic.
It is crucial you contact us as soon as possible, or revisit the clinic, where requested, in order for us to assess the situation as time is of the essence in the event of a complication so must be dealt with as an emergency.
Our preferred dermal fillers are Lumifil and Revolax of all variations for different purposes.
For tear trough filler we strictly only use Teosyal Redensity 2 as it is specifically developed for the area and has the additional benefit of light reflecting particles.
Botulinum Toxins we use are Botox and Azzalure generally, Bocouture on request.
This is a common concern which we will ask you about during consultation.
We can be as discreet as possible when preparing in order to avoid you seeing the needles where this is the case.
You can close your eyes throughout treatment in order to relax, and we will speak to you throughout the treatment so that you know what to expect.
We will also provide a stress ball to help with anxiety during treatment.
You can eat and drink immediately after treatment but beware of hot foods and drinks if you have had lip filler with numbing agents used as this could prevent you from being able to judge the temperature correctly and could cause injury.
We also advise to avoid messy foods (too much wiping of the mouth could cause the product to shift and increase chances of infection) and it's better to drink with a straw than without.
Foods containing garlic and supplements like vitamin e have also been shown to increase the risk of bruising.
It is recommended to avoid drinking alcohol, especially red wine, for 24 hours before and 24 hours after your procedure. Drinking alcohol has been shown to increase your risk of bruising and can cause you to be dehydrated. Dehydration can negatively affect recovery.
You may also wish to avoid drinking excessive caffeine before or after your appointment, as caffeine can cause dehydration and can increase your heart rate. As with strenuous exercise, increased heart rate and blood flow can cause the Botulinum toxin to break down more quickly before the skin tightening effects have time to take place.
We do not offer treatments on a mobile basis. This is so that we can control the environment, equipment and safety for all of our clients.
Yes, we offer free consulations. These can be booked under the 'Treatments' tab and choosing from the available dates and times.
No. We keep our prices as low as possible, however we only use high quality products and you do get what you pay for. Cheaper clinics may use lesser known brands with less safety tests and/or dilute wrinkle relaxation vials and use these for more than one person which is illegal and uninsurable, and makes them less effective and the lot number untraceable if any issues arise.
Unfortunately due to the nature of the business we are not insured to allow children unattended on the premises.
If you arrive with children, unfortunately you will be asked to leave without treatment. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience.
We request that you come by yourself to your appointment. We understand that sometimes people feel that they would like moral support but we need to have your full attention and provide ours to you during the full appointment, and as others have caused distractions previously, it is our policy that you come alone.
If someone is to arrive with you, we respectfully ask that they return to meet you following treatment. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience.
We accept payment in the forms of cash, debit or credit card.
If you wish to split the cost of treatments, we have various options which may allow you to do so, subject to affordability and credit status. Please get in touch prior to booking if you would like to use any of these options as the application would need to be completed prior to your appointment.
We have been in the beauty industry for 7 years and are passionate about what we do.
We are dedicated to maintaining our standards and are continuously training. We have a very loyal client base due to the way we treat them and how we care for them pre and post treatment.
